sp3 Diamond Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of
CVD diamond products, equipment and services, announced that it has brought
industry veteran Rob Hay on board as its new vice president of sales. Hay
brings a strong and diverse background to sp3, one that encompasses new
business and market development, technical sales, advanced materials technology
as well as thermal product and package development.
Most
recently Hay was sales manager for PremaTech Advanced Ceramics and was
responsible for worldwide technical sales, customer service, new business
development, product management, and marketing. Prior to that he was the vice
president, sales and business development for Ceramics Process Systems
Corporation. Hay acquired his background in CVD diamond over the 17 years he
spent in various technical and management positions at Norton Diamond Film and
the Norton Company.
The appointment represents another step in
sp3's ongoing strategy as the company accelerates its move into new markets
such as high heat flux thermal management, where diamond has clear
technological and economic advantages.

months we have been positioning sp3 Diamond Technologies and our portfolio of
CVD diamond based products to move into the mainstream of electronics thermal
management and cutting tool applications,” stated Dwain Aidala, president
and COO of sp3 Diamond Technologies. “Rob's background dovetails perfectly
with this strategy as his combination of technical and sales expertise offers
sp3 a unique skill set with which to approach prospective customers in these
markets.”
In addition to an extensive sales and
engineering background in the advanced materials space, Hay holds five patents,
covering the application of CVD diamond to cutting tools as well as its use in
electronic packages. He has published a variety of technical articles in
publications such as Materials Science and Engineering, American
Machinist, Cutting Tool Engineering, and HDI - The Magazine of
High-Density Interconnect. Hay has also presented at many diamond and
materials conferences, including being the keynote speaker at the 1996 European
Conference on Advances in Hard Material Production in Stockholm, Sweden. |
