Advanced diamond deposition

sp3 Diamond Technologies specializes in the development of the diamond chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process to reach an ever-widening range of product applications. The company provides thin-film and free-standing diamond products and services to companies world-wide, with a focus on thermal management and diamond-on-silicon applications.
Thin-film deposition is carried out using hot-filament reactors at the Santa Clara, California facility. Free-standing diamond deposition, using DC torch reactors, is performed at sp3's Calgary, Alberta facility.
     

CVD diamond applications

Using both thin-film and free-standing diamond deposition technology, sp3 Diamond Technologies' products include heat spreaders for high power laser diodes, grinding logs, wear surfaces and seals.
CVD coatings are used for MEMS, SAW devices and dielectric layers. Electronic applications of thin-film diamond include the coating of silicon wafers up to 300mm in diameter and substrates of varying configurations. A fast-growing application is amorphous silicon deposition for solar cells.
In addition to manufacturing end products, sp3 Diamond Technologies provides custom coating services for silicon substrates.

CVD reactors

As well as developing hot-filament reactors for internal use, sp3 Diamond Technologies manufactures CVD reactors for both production and R&D applications for sale. Diamond deposition consulting services are also offered.
